The
Jefferson County Heritage Partnership met Tuesday, June 15, 12004, at the Jennings County Public Library at North Vernon with Norma Lou Irwin, president, presiding.
Minutes
were approved with a correction to read that Ken Knouf had reported on the Big Oaks Refuge Visitor Center plans.
The
financial report was approved as published.
Knouf
reported Fish and Wildlife are developing plans for an interpretive kiosk in the New Marion Area and there will space for 100 words of text for JPGHP.
There
were no reports from the website, financial, membership and communications committees.
Corrected
copies of the proposed St. Magdalene book are now available.
Terry
Stephenson gave update on office manager. Anyone working under the Experience Works program must have supervision and be in an office setting. It was suggested to look for a grant to support the position.
Bylaw
revisions were passed on a motion by Knouf and seconded by Zella Matthews.
Regatta
parking was discussed with work schedules discussed.
There
was nothing new on grant activity.
Publication
of Old Timbers was discussed with Irwin giving information she had received from First Books of Bloomington. Irwin also mentioned the possibility of a cookbook.
The
fall seminar with a World War II theme was set for Saturday, Nov. 13, at the Jennings County
Library.
Zella
Matthews brought a lamp she had made to show to the group. The base of it was a spent ammo shell.
Having
a table on Main Street and selling crafts and other items at the same time of the Chautauqua was discussed.
The
Land of Lakes Foundation was reported to be accepting grant applications.
Donation
from Wally and Susie Smith of LaPorte was acknowledged.
Next
meeting is Tuesday, July 20, at South Ripley Elementary School at Versailles.
