Meeting Minutes
September 21, 2004
The Jefferson Proving Ground Heritage Partnership
met Tuesday, September 21, 2004 at the Jennings County Public Library
at North Vernon with President, Norma Lou Irwin presiding.
Minutes of the August meeting were approved
as published on a motion by Ken Knouf and seconded by Louis Munier.
The financial report was approved on a
motion by Bill Sanders and seconded by Lilian Carmer. Collections for August
and September amounted to $43. This cash and some checks were turned over to
Terry Stephenson, HHH Coordinator.
Knouf reported David Lee will be checking
with the Regatta about payment for parking during the July races. He reminded
the group of the work day at Oakdale School
on October 2 and that Friends of Big Oaks would be having a fish fry at noon that
day. He stated Don Ward of Roundabout publication is interested in doing an article
on the JPG stone arch bridges.
The fall seminar to be held November 13
was discussed and copies of flyers for the seminar were distributed. There will
be a silen auction at the seminar and donations are being accepted for that. The
Ripley County Community Foundation approved a $400 grant to be used for the seminar.
A request for $500 has been submitted to the Jennings County Community Foundation.
The St. Magdalene
History Book was discussed. Some more changes and clarifications are necessary. The Plain Dealer’s quote revised September
20, 2004, was reported.
Mary and Ilene Harsin requested help and
items for the Main Street booth during the Chautauqua September 25-26.
Betty Neff displayed a baby quilt that
would be offered for sale.
Ron Harsin, who received $1500 to develop
the website, made a $1500 donation to the Partnership.
Janice and Bill Sanders reported 90 copies
of the letter approved last month were mailed. Nine were returned for incorrect
addresses. No response had been received as of the meeting date.
It was suggested copies of the newsletter
be sent to inactive members.
It was decided to apply for a grant (up
to $35,000) to the Rising Sund Regional Foundation to fund a two-year project on a motion by bill Sanders and seconded by
Bob Irwin.
Next meeting is Tuesday, October 19, 2004, 7:00 P.M. at South
Ripley Elementary School in Versailles.
