Our 2008 Annual Fall Seminar !

The Jefferson Proving Ground Heritage Partnership met Tuesday, May 17, 2005, at the Holiday Inn Express at Madison.  Norma Lou Irwin presided.
 
Minutes of the March and April meetings were read and approved with corrections.  The financial report was reviewed and filed for audit.
 
Ken Knouf reported the Jennings County Preservation Council would have a work party at Oakdale School on Saturday, May 21.
 
It was noted nothing had been received from the Regatta for last year's parking fees.  This continues to be pursued.
 
Knouf and Terry Stephenson met with the Madison-Jefferson County Community Foundation regarding the grant application for money to transcribe oral histories.  Knouf stated things seemed "encouraging".  He also reported on receiving a membership from Bob hansel.  A copy of a poem entitled "Proving Ground", which was written in 1941-1942 was received from Pam Newhouse and distributed.
 
Printouts were distributed on Mike Moore's JPG website.
 
The spring trip had to be cancelled because of the weather and a fall trip to the same areas, Millersburg, etc., is planned.
 
Knouf also discussed a meeting with Air Guard and Big Oaks personnel, Jim Lavell, a Delta pilot, is liaison with Big Oaks Society.
 
A letter of intent is being sent to the commissioners of Jefferson County asking for support for the transcriber position from the historical preservation fund.
 
Ron Harsin reported the website continues to be popular with 661 visits in April 2005 and 193 as of this date for May.  There were 4327 hits for April and 1227 so far for May.
 
Carl and Millie Busch recently attended a workshop on marketing websites and gave information on the seminar.  They also stated they hope to work with associate memberships.
 
Trip is being planed by Norma Lou and ken Knouf to visit Chilton Thomson, author of the book "Old Timbers", within the next month.
 
Ron Harsin in quired about the status of the St. Magdalene book and will be checking on prices for a few copies at a time.
 
The Jefferson Proving Ground closed September 30, 1995.  A 10 year reunion is being planned for September.
 
It was mentioned Bill and Janice Sanders have moved to the New Albany area.
